LATINX MENTAL HEALTH
Does this sound like you?
“I feel like I have to be strong all the time. My family doesn’t really talk about mental health, and sometimes I wonder if they’d even understand. I carry so much—expectations, responsibilities, unspoken struggles—and I don’t know where to put it all. I feel guilty when I set boundaries or take time for myself, like I’m letting people down. I love my family, but sometimes it feels like they don’t see how much I’m struggling. I just want to find a way to take care of myself without feeling like I’m betraying where I come from.”
Culturally-Affirming Therapy for the Latinx Community
As a Latina therapist and a therapist who has focused much of her work on de-stigmatizing mental health support in the Latinx community, I understand the unique challenges that come with navigating mental health in our culture. In many Latinx families, resilience and sacrifice are deeply valued, but conversations about mental well-being can feel taboo. You might have grown up believing that struggling is just part of life, that asking for help is “selfish,” or that you should just push through. But healing doesn’t mean you’re weak—it means you’re choosing to break cycles and prioritize yourself in a way that maybe no one before you has.
Having worked with families throughout Los Angeles and Orange County, I’ve supported those who have experienced challenges such as lack of resources, immigration stress, acculturation difficulties, racism, trauma, and abuse. These struggles can feel isolating, but they also shape the incredible resilience and strength that defines our community. The beauty of resilience is something that makes me personally proud to be about of the Latin community.
Through culturally-informed care, I help you navigate these obstacles in a way that honors your background while allowing you to heal and grow.
-
Feeling like you must prove yourself, be the "strong one," or carry the weight of family sacrifices.
-
Navigating boundaries, guilt, or differing values between generations.
-
Whether you’re an immigrant yourself or the child of immigrants, the pressure to honor your roots while building your own path can be overwhelming.
-
Feeling responsible for taking care of others or “the family” while struggling to prioritize your own needs.
-
Growing up in an environment where emotions weren’t always validated, and now working to heal patterns of survival-mode thinking. This is also common when past generations have immigrated due to seeking asylum or safety from their home country.
-
Feeling caught between cultures, identities, and expectations.

You deserve peace, joy, and fulfillment on your own terms.
You don’t have to do this alone. I’m here to help you reclaim your space, set boundaries, and step into a life that reflects your true worth.
