FAQ’S
Getting Started
-
My practice is 100% virtual, which allows me to see clients throughout California. I do not have a “traditional” therapy office, at this time. With my license, I am only allowed to see clients while they are in the state of California.
-
Sessions are 45 minutes. However, for an increased fee, we are able to meet for 60 or 90 minutes.
-
All new clients are required to complete intake paperwork prior to their first session. I will review the forms in advance to consider how to best structure treatment. The first session often entails going in depth of more specific questions about your current stressors, goals, and identity. Over the next 3-4 sessions I will continue to further assess how to best support you in treatment as we get to know one another. It may take about the same amount of time to feel comfortable in sharing everything that you have experienced or are experiencing. Please know that is more than okay.
-
As we work together, I will start to better understand your needs and how to support you in treatment. In the beginning I recommend at least 1 session a week to build our therapeutic relationship and create the treatment plan. As we move further along in therapy, we may move sessions to every other week.
-
Research shows that online therapy is just as effective as traditional in person therapy. Online therapy is convenient and allows my clients to have more freedom in where they choose to have a session. I ask that you be in a private space to ensure confidentiality and your comfort in sharing what is on your mine and have access to a reliable internet source. All online sessions take place on a HIPPA Compliant platform.

Making the most of therapy involves active participation, openness, and a willingness to engage in the process of self-discovery and healing. To get the most out of your sessions, it's important to approach therapy with an open mind and a commitment to your personal growth. Be honest with your therapist about your thoughts, feelings, and struggles—sharing openly allows for deeper insights and more effective treatment. Setting clear goals for what you hope to achieve can guide your work together, and remember that change takes time, so be patient with yourself. Lastly, apply what you learn in therapy to your daily life; real transformation happens when you integrate your insights and practice new coping strategies outside of the sessions. Your commitment to the process, along with the support of a skilled therapist, can lead to meaningful and lasting change.
-
The length of time you spend in therapy depends on your unique goals, challenges, and the type of support you're seeking. Some individuals may find that a few sessions are enough to address specific concerns, while others may benefit from longer-term therapy to work through deeper issues or complex life transitions. The process of healing and growth is personal, and it’s important to go at a pace that feels right for you. Throughout our work together, we will regularly assess progress and adjust the frequency or length of sessions to best meet your evolving needs. Ultimately, therapy is a journey, and the duration will be tailored to your individual path toward healing, self-discovery, and lasting change.
-
I understand that life can be unpredictable, and sometimes plans change. If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, please give at least 48 hours notice to avoid a cancellation fee. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the scheduled appointment will incur a fee of the full session fee. If an emergency arises or there are extenuating circumstances, please reach out.

Choosing the right therapist is a deeply personal decision that depends on your individual needs, preferences, and goals. Research shows it’s important to feel comfortable with your therapist, as the therapeutic relationship is key to your success. Look for someone who makes you feel heard, respected, and understood. Additionally, consider factors like their approach to therapy, whether it aligns with your values, and their availability. Feel free to ask me about my background, therapeutic style, and how I typically support clients facing challenges like yours. This allows you to get a sense of how I work and what you can expect from our sessions before committing to therapy. If it turns out that we’re not the right fit, I’m more than happy to offer referrals to other trusted professionals in the area who may be a better match for your needs.
Fees and Billing
-
Individual Therapy: $220 per 45-minute session / $250 per 60-minute session / $350 per 90-minute session
(60 or 90 minute sessions recommended for EMDR)
PAYMENT:
Payment is processed via credit, debit, or HSA card after the completion of each session or professional contact.
I hold your scheduled appointment time specifically for you and you alone. As such, if you join or arrive at a scheduled session late or you have to end a session early, the full fee will still be charged.
-
I am out of network with all insurances, and I do not submit insurance claims. You are responsible for full payment at the time of your appointment, and I will provide you with a monthly superbill, which you can then submit to your insurance carrier for direct reimbursement.
-
Many PPO’s health insurance policies allow for participants to choose out-of-network mental health providers and submit a superbill for reimbursement. Please note that this does require a formal mental health diagnosis that becomes part of your permanent health record. If you plan on submitting psychotherapy statements for reimbursement to your insurance, please consult with your insurance company about your particular benefits as it is not a guarantee that you will receive any reimbursement either due to the specifics of your plan or due to your insurance not considering the diagnosis I provide to be a “medically necessary diagnosis.”
In order to find out if you are eligible for insurance reimbursement:
Call your insurance company’s member services number. It should be listed on the back of your insurance card.
Find out if you have out-of-network benefits and what your financial responsibility would be. Some questions to ask the member services representative:
"Does my plan include out-of-network mental health services?"
"Do I have a deductible for out-of-network mental health services and what is the amount I would have to pay before my health plan starts to reimburse me?"
"What is the maximum amount my plan will reimburse me for outpatient treatment sessions?
-
A superbill is a receipt that includes details about your therapy sessions, such as the date, service type, and therapist’s credentials. You can submit it to your insurance company for potential reimbursement, depending on your plan.
-
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call (800) 985-3059.
-
I reserve a part of my caseload for individuals needing a reduced rate. If you do not think you can afford my full fee, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
If I’m unable to offer you a sliding scale spot, I’d be happy to offer referrals to trusted clinicians.
